The Components
All the components in Super Mega Lucky Box are sturdy and well made. I love that all the cards in the box are made with the same dry erase material that the scoring cards are. I wish that all cards in all games were made with this material.🥰 They are wipeable and essentially un-rip-able, perfect for playing with kids. Dry erase markers with erasers are included in the game. We’ve only had one not write well- but they may have been from someone pressing a little too hard. The lightning bolt and moon (or blue bananas, as my kids like to call them 😅) pieces are made of hard plastic. Everything stores well in the provided insert in the box.
The Game Play
Each turn, players simultaneously cross off spots on their Lucky Box cards that correspond to the number card that is revealed. You will complete rows and columns as you mark off spots on your card. When you complete one, it might unlock a bonus! Bonuses include another number to cross off, earning a lightning bolt token (to change the value of the number on the number card), a star (gives you points for the current round), or moon (the player with the most of these at the end earns extra points and the player with the least loses points).
Play continues with players marking off numbers and earning bonuses until the final turn. Then players add up all their totals and the player with the most points is the winner.
Gameschooling
Super Mega Lucky Box gives kids many opportunities to plan and use strategic and critical thinking skills. It also includes a decent amount of math skills, including probability, addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
Overall Thoughts
We all love this game! It is quick and easy to learn and is a perfect blend of strategy and luck to make it a great family game, and is ideal for game night with friends. One of the great benefits of this game is that everyone plays simultaneously, so there’s no downtime.
