November Decluttering Challenge

Are you feeling surrounded by “stuff”?

I always think that before Christmas is a great time to get rid of the clutter and get the house organized. However, trying to get the house decluttered during December never seems to go how I’d like. There’s just too much going on. So this year, I will be doing a decluttering challenge for November, and I hope you’ll join me.

I have created a free printable to go along with this challenge that you can find at the bottom of this post. I designed it to set us all up for success and keep us motivated during the month.

Daily Tasks

First, there is a calendar with the daily tasks. We will be tackling a different area of the house or a category of items each day. I’ve also built catch-up/drop-off days into the schedule. These are for two things- 1. Extra time for any spots that need more attention from the week. 2. Scheduled time to get your items out of the house. I find scheduling time for getting items out crucial because otherwise, I can have a box of goodwill items sit in the garage for months. I’ve also scheduled a day off each week. I think this is important to help make sure we can stick with the challenge and not feel burnt out.

Identify Your Why

There is also a box that asks why you are doing the challenge. This may seem a little silly, (Duh, my why is I want a clean house😜) but identifying your why for doing the challenge and having it written where you will see can help motivate you. My why is that I would like more time with my family in a clutter-free environment for Advent, Christmas, and into the New Year.

Set a Goal

The last spot on the printable is a spot for goals. Even if we’re all following the same plan, we start from a different spot and have different goals. I want to mention that decluttering doesn’t have to be done all at once, and even removing 1 item a day makes an impact. This quote from Joshua Becker is so appropriate, “Remember, as long as you’re moving in the right direction, you are moving in the right direction.”

And if you want to hop onboard but would like to make your schedule, I’ll be including a blank one for you as well!
